Professor of Philosophy of Science at Università degli Studi di Milano, he has taught Mechanics at the universities of Pavia, Milan and Catania.
From his early studies of philosophy and history of science, his interests broadened to include topics of scientific change and the relations between science, ethics and politics.
Giorello is also a contributer to Corriere della Sera. Among his publications are: Parabole e catastrofi, intervista a René Thom (with Simona Morini, 1981), Lo spettro e il libertino. He brought out new Italian editions of Areopagitica by John Milton (1987) and, together with Marco Mondadori, of On Liberty by John Stuart Mill (1981 e 1991).
